I see a lot of complaining/confusion about the wedding/lack of a kiss in the G-Witch finale and I just…do we know anything about Japanese culture? I’d say the ending was almost exactly what I could have hoped for in a Canon Yuri show where relationships aren’t the main focus.
It’s EXTREMELY clear that Suletta and Miorine got married. Eri calls her “sister in law”. The very obvious showing of the rings. “Let’s go home” referring to one place - together. Their bodies physically intertwined and the love and affection in their gazes and voices. The handholds. I personally didn’t feel like we were left wondering at ALL - Our girls are in love and they are wives.
There doesn’t need to be a kiss (though it would have been cute to see). Everything doesn’t need to be spelled out for us. I think this series did a beautiful job at taking a traditionally masculine franchise (at least in the US) and giving it the space lesbians we all love and deserve in a way consistent with Gundam and Japanese culture.
Wishing everyone the happiest, gayest Suletta Sunday.
